Halloween Silhouette Art
Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at 02:35PM
Intro:
In honor of Halloween, let's use layers and brushes to create some silhouette art with hand-gradient backgrounds!
Process:
- Make a new document called "sunset" that's letter-sized, portrat at 300 ppi
- Make a new layer called "shadow"
- On the "shadow" layer, draw the silhouette (black shadow only) of something fun that's Halloween-themed. Please don't do anything gross or morbid. Ideas include bats, witches, haunted houses, etc.
- On the background layer, use the pencil tool to create a 6-step value scale (see above for a hint) of any color (the above is the brightest orange at the bottom, going to the darkest at the top).
- You could also find a picture of a sunset and use 6 colors to make a realistic color scheme.
- For fun, you could also use the LIQUIFY tool to warp the colors to give the background texture.
- SAVE a JPG and turn in
